Plum Hill Orchard and Berry Patch is a small fruit based farm focusing on regenerative practices, conservation and community. We are located in the eastern part of the Loess Hills in Iowa.
We use a variety of practices to help increase biodiversity on our farm. First, most of our farm is being returned to prairie. Second, the rows are planted with a variety of species organized by harvest date and maintenance. This improves pest protections so that we can minimize spraying for pests or utilize completely harmless methods (like spraying clay). Third the ground cover is being designed to support beneficial insects, and fix nitrogen, it is then mowed and blown onto the crops to supply nutrients.
